Generation V Pal Park

Located on Route 15 is a building that is very similar to the Pal Park of the previous games at which you can connect your previous generation games to Black or White once you have obtained the National Pokedex.

When you enter the Transfer Lab, you are told in some detail how it all works. Once you sit through the tutorial you can then access the transferring program pretty much whenever you want, assuming that you have two physical DS's and the game cartridges are in the proper state – ie they each have the National Dex and you have completed their story modes.

To use the Pal Park you will need a copy of Black or White, and any of the previous generation games that meet the requirements – which includes Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. If you have Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen, you will need to transfer their Pokemon – via Pal Park – to Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver, or HeartGold before you can move them into Black or White.

At the connection screens you will trigger a Download App which will link your Generation IV game to Black or White, and like Pal Park, you can send over your Pokemon six at a time – though unlike the Gen IV games, there is no limit or timer associated with the process in Black or White.

Note that you cannot transfer Pokemon with hold items or that know Hidden Machine moves sadly. If your Pokemon knows an HM you will have to visit the Move Deleter in your game and delete it. Eggs cannot be transferred between generations so you will have to hatch them first, and sadly, you cannot transfer the Spiky-eared Pichu at all.

If you are looking to unlock Zorua or Zoroark DO NOT transfer your Fateful Encounter event Pokemon via this method because it will NOT trigger the event! For those you must use the Relocator Machine.
